Tips for Choosing a Laser Hair Removal Clinic

If you have tried for years to get rid of unwanted hair without success, perhaps you’re considering a laser hair removal clinic.  How do you decide which laser hair removal clinic to choose?  This hair removal guide will help you make that decision and also inform you about safe, effective alternatives to having the work done in a professional spa or laser clinic.

How to Choose a Laser Hair Removal Clinic

This is an important decision and should not be taken lightly.  Don’t rush into the decision because not all clinics have the same standards of professionalism, training, cleanliness, privacy, and other important factors.  Use these tips when deciding where to have the work done.

1. Ask your Friends for Recommendations

Some people are very private about hair removal.  But if you have friends that have told you they’ve been to a laser hair removal clinic, get their advice about the clinic.  Ask important questions such as: Was the treatment effective?  How fast did the hair grow back, if at all?  Was the treatment painful?  Were there any side effects you noticed later?  Were the staff and practitioner professional?  Do they protect your privacy?  Was the treatment area clean?  Were the prices fair?  Would you recommend the laser hair removal clinic to others?

Getting a personal review from a trusted friend is a good place to start, but it’s just a start.

2. Read Reviews of the Laser Hair Removal Clinic

The clinic’s website might have them, but independent sites are a better source for reviews and testimonials.  Google, Yahoo and Angie’s List are good places to find independent reviews from people who have actually been to the clinics.  When you hear or read about 2 or 3 clinics that get consistently good reviews, take the next step.

3. Visit 2-3 Clinics for a Personal Consultation

Take note of everything when you go.  How public is the location?  Is it in a safe area?  Is the waiting room full or are there few others?  Note the cleanliness of the treatment areas.  And during your consultation, ask more questions such as: What are the qualifications of the practitioners? How much experience do they have?  Can they treat people with your skin tone?  What health and safety precautions are taken?  Find out how many treatments are required and what the expected results will be in your situation.  Ask about the total cost of the treatments and the pricing schedule.  You should never have to pay for the entire treatment up front.  A deposit may be required, but payment for each treatment shouldn’t be required until the end of each session.

4. Consider Getting a Patch Test Done

Many clients ask for a patch test to be done in order to determine how effective the treatment is.  You may have to schedule a follow-up visit for that, depending on how busy they are.  Or, when you call to schedule the consultation, tell them at that time you may want a patch test so enough time will be set aside to have it during at the consultation. If you are unsure of the skill of the practitioner or the cleanliness of the facility based on your consultation, DO NOT have a test patch done.

5. Evaluate and Decide

Don’t sign up for treatment until you’ve visited all the laser hair removal clinics on your list and had time to consider the information.  Choose the hair removal clinic that you believe offers the most effective, safest and most reasonably-priced treatment.
