The General Difference Between Tria and Silk’n SensEpil

If you’ve looked into the Tria Laser hair removal tool and the Silk’n SensEpil, then you know that they use similar technologies to remove hair. The Tria uses a true laser to transfer heat energy to the hair; the Silk’n SensEpil uses Home Pulsed Light, or HPL, to energize, heat and destroy the hair. These are 2 different technologies with very similar results. But what about the systems? How do the Tria and the Silk’n SensEpil differ in other ways? What are their similarities? This home hair removal guide will answer those questions. You can also read our Tria Laser review and our Silk’n SensEpil review on this site, along with many other hair removal reviews that will help you choose the right product for your personal hair removal.

Overview of the Tria Laser Hair Removal System
We cover the technological differences between Tria and Silk’n SensEpil in a separate article. This guide focuses on other differences as well as similarities.

The Tria is a cordless tool. You plug in the charger and then place the tool in the cradle of the charger. When fully charged, it offers about 400 laser uses before it needs to be recharged. Most users simply place it back in the cradle between uses to fully charge, so that even if they don’t use 400 pulses in a session, it is fully charged for next time. Depending on the amount of hair you are trying to remove, 400 uses might be enough to treat most or all of your body. Most estimates say the Tria can be recharged 500 times before it wears out.

The Tria laser tool offers 5 different strength settings so that you can find the right balance for you – an effective strength without being uncomfortable. The Tria tool is NOT recommended for use on the face, neck or genitals.

The fact that the Tria Laser home hair removal tool is cordless makes it very easy to use. There’s no cord to become tangled in legs or feet, or get in the way.

The Tria Laser hair removal system is designed to be used on light skin tones form pale white to light brown. The tool has a built-in light sensor to safeguard against using it on skin that is too dark. The problem is that dark skin will absorb the light, causing heat which may lead to burns or severe discomfort.

How the Silk’n SensEpil System is Similar and Different than the Tria
This is also a cordless tool, with a plug-in recharger. It is different from the Tria in that it uses Home Pulsed Light, or HPL, cartridges that each function for about 750 pulses. It comes with 4 cartridges when you buy the kit, and individual cartridges or packs of them may be purchased later.

Like the Tria, the new Silk’n SensEpil has a skin tone sensor which will prevent it from pulsing if your skin tone is too dark. There are 5 strength settings, each one progressively stronger. You’ll notice some discomfort and even slight pain on higher settings and these results are similar to what users of the Tria experience.

The Silk’n SensEpil is approved by the FDA for use on most places of the body, including the neck and face from below the cheekline. Keep this in mind, because the Tria is not approved for use on any part of the face and is not recommended for use on the neck. That’s a key difference in how these 2 hair removal tools work.

Differences in Price between Tria and Silk’n SensEpil
The price of the Tria laser hair removal tool was recently dropped to $395, the best price ever. Currently, the Silk’n SensEpil system costs $599 for the tool and 4 long-lasting HPL cartridges, enough for 3,000 pulses.

Summary
The Tria and the Silk’n SensEpil are 2 of the bestselling home hair removal tools on the market because they are proven to be more effective than anything else currently available. The both offer results that rival those of professional laser clinics. Take a closer look at the hair removal reviews on this site to determine which one is best for your hair removal needs.
